don't be a dick. be polite and respectful to your fellow writers ooc. the only drama allowed here is ic as it works out for everyone, especially considering the premise of the game. remember to treat others how you'd like to be treated, it's not a hard rule to follow. we all like writing, we wouldn't be here if we didn't, so let's do our best to be nice to one another and leave all the drama in character where it belongs. |

your journals should be ooc with no underscores and you should have both backdated ic and ooc posts. as there is no internet in the zombie apocalypse, please refrain from spamming, using memes, etc as they won't make any sense. we will also be suspending disbelief when it comes to ic posts and customs. these should be treated as either face to face conversations or conversations over two-way radios. anything that is not in a custom, contact post, or labeled as private will be considered public conversation that anyone might hear or be a part of. while we don't require a full-length bio, we do expect you to have some basic character information (full name, hometown, birthdate, etc) in your ooc post. we do suggest adding a blurb or detailed bullet points when you can, however. please be sure to link us to either a journal or post when dropping off your examples. pms or comments of excerpts will not be accepted and we would like to see at least one thread and one narrative. we do reserve the right to reject anyone who we feel wouldn't be a good fit for the gpsl. |
three
remember to exercise logic here. good communication between players is key. godmodding is strictly forbidden without the other player's expressed permission. for example, your character can't just go off and kill someone else's without the other person giving the okay. also, please remember to use realism when it comes to injuries and abilities. no one is super human and things like wounds and broken bones aren't going to heal over night. likewise, not everyone is going to be familiar with guns or be able to get that perfect head shot every time. it's okay for characters to have flaws and weaknesses! ideally, they should have them in order for them to be more well-rounded. they can be anything you'd like for them to be: friendly, caustic, scared, ex-cons, law-abiding citizens, etc. |
four
you're welcome to bring in as many characters as you can handle, but keep in mind that this wouldn't be a zombie apocalypse if some characters didn't eventually end up dead. ready for your character to bite the dust? totally up to you! or if you want to kill off a character but don't want to put the time and effort into actually applying with them, you're welcome to have an npc (such as a family memeber or traveling companion). you can even claim a pb for them, just be sure to let us know so that they can be added to the taken list. just keep in mind that npcs (with the exception of children under 18 if you'd like to keep them around) are only there for your main character's development and a hungry zombie's snack. |
five
as this is a gpsl, we will only require either one in-character post or one written post such as a narrative or thread (this includes group threads) per month, but please feel free to post as much as you'd like. character driven communication and conflict is what drives situations like this, but we also understand that people lead busy lives. as long as you've been active in some capacity, you will not be in danger of removal. |
six
if you are removed for inactivity, any characters you have will be considered "missing" and that will serve as a subplot to add a bit of drama into the mix. if we don't hear from you in some capacity within a week of your removal, any characters will be then be considered dead and you won't be able to reapply with that character. as we've stated, we understand that people have lives, so if you happen to be super busy one month just drop us a line and let us know that way we can work out some kind of subplot involving your character's disappearance so that you don't get removed. we are more than happy to work with you, all you have to do is ask! |
seven
once we're past first adds, we will be invite only. if you're interested in joining after that, please refer to the mod journal in order to reach the wanted post to either fill a line for someone else or to ask for an invite. when getting ready to join, please be sure to have a good idea of the kind of character you'd like to play and develop along the way. we would prefer it if your character has at least one connection coming in whether it's as a family member, friend or traveling companion, someone that saved your character and brought them to the group, etc. that aside, it should be noted that this is mostly organic based. it is highly likely that most of these characters have never met so aside from a couple of basic lines, you should absolutely be open to building things organically. |
